1960's vintage Carmen Beckmann "Saturn" Sterling Silver and Matrix Boulder Opal Ring

Stone Dimensions: 1" l x 3/4" w x 3/8" d; bright blue & green opal in pinkish matrix stone; minor wear to the surface

Marks: Beckmann, Sterling, Mexico

Condition: minor wear on silver & opal; mellow patina on the surface

This is a very showy large ring; the opal gives off a nice fire. It's a simple modern design, with a bit of 60's attitude.

According to Penny Morrill in Mexican Silver, Beckmann may not have had much design input into the pieces she had stamped for her store in San Miguel de Allende. And it's true many of the pieces I've seen with her stamp don't have a strong design motif running through them. But she obviously had a great eye for what she wanted in her store.

This piece always receives great notice when worn.
